Against rampant fascism, for the self-management of networks and life

The recent events affecting Autistici/Inventati highlight how the arrogance of power knows no bounds. The authoritarian, xenophobic, anti-proletarian, warmongering, and imperialist nature of the US administration was already well known. Yet this latest step — equating A/I with a terrorist organization — further underscores the arrogance with which the US government seeks to strike at anti-fascism. Indeed, the sanctions against A/I stem from the outlawing of an informal association like ANTIFA, which has been identified — by distorting the facts — as a terrorist organization. In the US, as elsewhere, Antifa is not an organization but a shared sentiment (and course of action) among all those who actively struggle against every form of authoritarianism, striving for full freedom and autonomy for everyone. This links current events to the recent persecution of anti-fascists in Hungary, Germany (such as the persecution of Rote Hilfe), and other parts of the world.

Targeting anti-fascism is the means by which many governments seek to strike at any active movement that operates through self-management and aims for freedom and social justice.

Solidarity is our weapon to counter these strategies. At the same time, we must dedicate our efforts to understanding the evolving landscape in which we operate.

They want to force us underground and, consequently, into silence — stripping us of legitimate access to public spaces on the Web and criminalizing any form of public protest.

We denounce the growing monopolisation of the internet by a handful of capitalist groups which endanger the lives of people and the planet by consuming and destroying natural resources, putting nature at risk simply to accumulate more wealth in an inhumane manner.

All this takes place with the collusion of states, which take on the role of suppressing resistance both within and outside online networks, serving capital with resources drawn from society itself, and attacking movements that seek to defend the health and lives of all humanity.

In this context, “anarchists” are the icing on the cake, invoked in every situation as the ultimate terrorist threat. Our movement has already experienced similar situations, having often been outlawed — de jure or de facto — yet it has managed to resist, fight, and regenerate.

One hundred and fifty years after the Saint-Imier Congress, and after 150 years of persecution and repression, we are still here, flying the banners of liberty, solidarity, and equality.

As anarchists and libertarians gathered today for the meeting of the International Federation of Libertarian Study and Documentation Centers (FICEDL), we express our ardent solidarity with the comrades engaged in media activism and in the creation and management of services that facilitate connection, expression, and the showcasing of activities across the entire international anti-authoritarian and libertarian movement.

We reaffirm our commitment to the struggle against every form of fascism, authoritarianism, and nationalism.

The FICEDL assembly gathered in Bologna, 11–13 September 2026
